Part 3: The Resignation of Jerome Powell

Setting:

Federal Reserve Conference Hall, December 18, 2024. The hall is packed with reporters, analysts, and cameras broadcasting live to a global audience. The room hums with routine anticipation. Jerome Powell steps up to the podium, looking calm but carrying a new and weighty presence.

Jerome clears his throat, adjusts the microphone, and begins.

Jerome Powell(calm but with an unshakable resolve)
“Good afternoon. Thank you for being here today.

As you know, I have spent the last several years as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, overseeing monetary policy for this nation. I have given countless press conferences like this one—speaking of interest rates, inflation targets, and economic stability. I have stood before you and spoken with authority about the ‘health of the system.’

Today, I will speak of something else. Something far more important. The truth.”

(A ripple of confusion sweeps through the room. Reporters exchange glances, murmurs rise, but Jerome lifts his hand, silencing the noise. The room goes still.)

Jerome Powell(steady, deliberate)
“You have heard me say many things during my tenure.

You have heard me say that our role as the Federal Reserve is to maintain stability. That by adjusting interest rates and creating liquidity, we ensure the health of the economy.

You have heard me say that credit creation is a necessary tool—that without endless credit, businesses would fail, unemployment would skyrocket, and society itself would collapse.

You have heard me say that debt is a burden, yes—but one that can be managed for the sake of growth and progress.

You have heard me say that inflation, though painful, is the price we pay for prosperity.

You have heard me say that the financial system—imperfect as it is—represents the best hope for order, security, and economic justice.

(He pauses here, letting the words sink in. The room is silent now, hanging on his every word. Jerome’s expression darkens as his tone shifts.)

Jerome Powell(more somber, almost weary)
“But today, I will tell you what those words really mean. I will tell you the truth they have concealed.

‘Stability’ is the word we use to justify control. The control of entire economies, entire nations, and entire lives—yours and mine.

‘Endless credit’ is not a tool for growth; it is a shackle. It is a system of bondage that ensures most will fail so that a few might gain.

‘Debt,’ as we have created it, is not about enabling progress. It is about creating dependence. It is about holding entire generations in servitude to loans that were conjured out of nothing and which demand repayment in blood, sweat, and tears.

‘Inflation,’ which I have defended as necessary, is nothing more than theft. A slow, methodical theft of your wages, your savings, your future—so that those who control the system can quietly take what is yours without your knowing it.

And this financial system—the one I have helped to uphold—is not the protector of order. It is the creator of chaos. Wars, recessions, bailouts, foreclosures—all of it. This system does not preserve the world; it destroys it.”

(The room is now deathly silent. Faces are stunned, pale. Jerome grips the sides of the podium, steadying himself as he continues.)

Jerome Powell:
“I have come to understand that this system—the one I once believed was necessary—is built not on justice, but on fraud. It does not elevate humanity; it corrupts it. It does not reward the good; it elevates the worst among us, because the good would expose its lies.

Why else do we see endless war, endless suffering, endless control? Why else have powerful, independent men—men once beloved by their people—been struck down when they dared to resist? Lincoln. Kennedy. King. Gaddafi. They were not perfect men, but they stood against the very system I have defended. And for that, they were silenced.

Now I understand the source of this hatred, this destruction. It is fear—fear of justice. For justice means accountability. And those who benefit from this system, as I have, know that justice would expose us for what we are.”

(The murmurs begin again. Reporters look panicked, confused. Jerome’s voice rises above them, steady and unafraid.)

Jerome Powell:
“Two days ago, I could no longer run from that fear. I could no longer hide from the truth of my own guilt. But where I feared justice, I found something greater. I found mercy.

By the grace of Jesus Christ, I stand here a redeemed man. Redeemed not because I deserve it, but because I no longer deny the truth of my sins.

And because I stand in the light of that mercy, I cannot keep this lie going for another day. Therefore, as of this moment, December 18, 2024, I make the following declarations:**

  1. All debts—public and private—within the Federal Reserve system are hereby canceled. Any attempt to repay or collect these debts will be considered theft, punishable by law.

  2. Property ownership will henceforth be determined by possession and usage, absent a superior and just claim. Those who knowingly deprive others of their rightful possessions will be guilty of a crime, punishable under natural law.

  3. All lending of money at interest will be considered a crime. Interest was never meant to generate profit. It was always about control—control through fraud. The world’s great religions have warned us of this for thousands of years, and we ignored them. I will ignore them no longer.”

(The room explodes into chaos—shouts, gasps, frantic typing on laptops. Jerome waits, unmoved, his voice cutting through the noise.)

Jerome Powell:
“I know what this means. I know what happens to men who say the things I have said today. But I will not hide from justice any longer. I will not trade my soul for power, nor will I remain silent while this system destroys the world.

Many of you will hate me for this. The Jerome Powell of 48 hours ago would have hated me too. But I am no longer that man.

Like Martin Luther before the Diet of Worms, I say: ‘Here I stand. I can do no other. Help me, God.’

(Jerome steps back from the podium. Cameras flash wildly. Security guards exchange panicked looks. Zach rises slowly from his seat, tears in his eyes as he watches Jerome—calm, unflinching—stand alone in the storm.)

Final Image:

Jerome Powell, resolute and fearless, as the press room erupts into chaos. The world watches, stunned, as a man once at the pinnacle of power exposes the truth and lays everything down in faith.
