Can you benefit by lying?
Explain to me why it’s foolish to benefit from lying and stealing and I will show you not only why Bitcoin and the dollar are foolish but how to redeem the world and return to God.
Why is it foolish to benefit from lying and stealing?
This question exposes the greed and faithlessness at the heart of our society. The roots of this question go all the way back to the garden of Eden where Eve’s greed permitted her to to benefit from lying and stealing.
Act 1: Creation - God’s Limited Expression
God’s Creation: I have made you.
God’s Judgement: You are good.
God’s Hidden Heart: I love you.
God’s Problem: How can I prove my love to them?
God’s Commandment: ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
Act 2: The Fall of Creation - Ignorance and Paradise Lost
Eve’s Fear: I will die if I eat or touch the forbidden fruit.
Eve’s Greed: She saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom.
Eve’s Problem: How can I know who is telling the truth without wisdom?
Eve’s Pride: I am wiser than God.
Eve’s Resentment: God doesn’t want me to be wise.
Eve’s Faithlessness: God must not love me.
Eve’s Judgment: God is a liar.
Eve’s First Sin: Trading the truth for a lie and eating the forbidden fruit.
Eve’s Second Sin: She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Adam and Eve’s Punishment: They were bound to the consequences of becoming self-sufficient.
Example 1: Awareness of their own frailty (nakedness)
Example 2: Awareness of their own vulnerability (hid from God)
Example 3: Struggle to feed and reproduce (toil in the soil and pain in childbirth)
Adam and Eve’s Belief: God hates us because for what we have done.
Adam and Eve’s Question: Does God love us?
Act 3: Redemption - The Triumph of Love over Evil
God’s Invitation: Will you trust me?
God’s Story: Proving time and time again the mercy and love of God for His people (Israel) and testing their faith (Moses, Abraham, Israel) with suffering.
God’s Question: You lied about and discounted my love for you in order to eat a piece of forbidden fruit. What suffering will you endure in order to tell the truth about my love for you? How valuable is my love to you? What will you trade it for?
God’s Perfect Expression of Love: Jesus Christ who loved God even thought it costed him His life. He was the “first fruit” of God’s redeemed people who believe that no benefit is worth disobedience to God.
Act 4: The New Creation
A return of the people of God to the presence of God. This gathering, a kind of harvest of God, is the people known by their fruit of righteousness, not the fruit they lust for and steal. They are known for suffering for the sake of the truth and their lives are a testimony to the love of God above all other loves. Their king is Christ Jesus and they will dwell in the fullness of God’s love for them for all eternity.
Why, therefore, is it foolish to benefit from lying and stealing? Because the God of all creation is the God of all benefit. You have to believe God doesn’t exist and that He doesn’t see in order to believe you can benefit from lying and stealing. The fool says “there is no God” and the faithless says “God doesn’t see.” Since God is and judges everyone perfectly for what they do, it is foolish to benefit from lying.
In summary:
The belief that one can benefit from lying and stealing is foolish because it denies the existence and omniscience of God, who ultimately judges all actions and values truth and righteousness over deceit and greed.
God chose to teach us this lesson to demonstrate that true fulfillment and redemption come from valuing His love and truth above material or deceptive gains, reaffirming His role as the ultimate source of justice and goodness.
We have to experience the absence of God to fully appreciate His presence and love, as it is through understanding our own limitations and suffering that we come to recognize the depth and significance of His grace and redemption.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ personify this lesson by showing that even through the ultimate suffering and apparent abandonment, God's profound love and redemption are revealed, demonstrating that faithfulness and truth lead to eternal life and restoration.
The ultimate goal of God in telling this story and having us experience it firsthand is to lead us to a deeper understanding and relationship with Him, guiding us to a heavenly destination where true fulfillment is found in aligning with His love and truth, rather than seeking transient, deceptive gains.

- **Sacrifice Material Possessions**: Donate or give away items of value to those in need to prioritize spiritual growth over material wealth.
- **Forego Material Security**: Make lifestyle changes that prioritize spiritual and community commitments over financial gain, such as choosing a lower-paying job that aligns with your values or spending more time in service.
- **Read Testimonies**: Explore the stories and writings of individuals who have chosen love and truth over short-term material gain to gain insight and inspiration.
- **Join a Faith Community**: Connect with others who share similar beliefs to support and learn from one another’s experiences.
- **Reflect on Personal Challenges**: Examine how your own trials and experiences reflect the themes of suffering and redemption in the story.
- **Avoid Altruism for Its Own Sake**: Be cautious of seeking self-worth or spiritual fulfillment solely through acts of sacrifice, which can distort faith in God’s goodness by elevating sacrifice above love and truth.
- **Beware of Marxism's Distortion**: Recognize that Marxism’s focus on material equality and class struggle can obscure spiritual truths and divert attention from seeking God’s love and righteousness, reducing faith to mere political ideology.
- **Reject Dishonest Gain**: Avoid pursuing money if it involves lying or defrauding others, as this compromises integrity and faith in God’s justice.
- **Take Risks for Truth**: Make moral choices such as defaulting on loans to remove the benefits gained through fraudulent financial practices, thereby demonstrating a commitment to integrity and justice even at a personal cost.
