Quick analysis: Bernie Madoff represents all Americans after WWII. The period between 1913 & 1945 was so traumatic, people just wanted peace, even if that peace was secured with deception.
Bernie Madoff suffered losses on the stock market early in his career and covered over those loses with a loan from a family member. This made Bernie Madoff appear successful when he wasn’t. The ethos of Bernie Madoff after that even could be summarized this way:
“I can live with myself as a liar. I can’t live with myself as a failure.”
This documentary is good to watch because the warnings against unjust gain are so universal and so straightforward. Proverbs and scripture written thousands of years ago still provide a succinct commentary on the rise and fall of Bernie Madoff.

Do not steal. “’Do not lie. “’Do not deceive one another.

And in the end he will be a fool.”

“Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness
And his upper rooms without justice,
Who uses his neighbor’s services without pay
