The Love of Costs and Cause of Love
In a world of costs, I want to be the cause
I don’t worry about costs. Costs are a cheap artificial substitute to the Cause of all that is.
Though I live in a world that claims to be able to put a cost on everything, I choose love. I choose value.
I live in a world that despises love.
All around me I see gifts, talents, bodies, beauty, and souls sold for ransom.
Say you don’t need no diamond ring.
And I’ll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the things
That money just can’t buy
I don’t care too much for money
Money can’t buy me love
Price *pries our eyes* from source
Cost *crucifies the cause*
Money puts *me on my knee*s to the money maker
Markets *mark it* for sell
Market captives // blinded by price // crucify love // for money
The soul is the soil of life.
The spirit is the source of love.
How can we have life without the soul?
How can we have love without the spirit?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world at the cost of his soul?
What profit can a woman receive in exchange for her soul?
Can the soul be sold and not sail to Sheol?
All money is born in bondage and it binds everywhere it goes.
How can bondage make us free?
Can darkness be the cause of light?
Does light ask permission to shine?
What right do I have to hide my face from you?
By what authority would you withhold?
None.
No.
Love cannot be sold. Love cannot be bound in the bondage of debt. Love cannot be blinded by price. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor can the floods drown it.
If a man would give for love
All the wealth of his house,
It would be utterly despised.
How can I betray love with a trade?
How can I be your lover in chains?
Won’t the cost of this error drag us both to death?
Won’t these chains hold me back, Love?
Butterflies flutter
To heights unknown to mankind.
How little we know!
My love has no cost. Your life has no cost.
I am who I am, the Cause, and I freely give my love and my life to those who love me.
My love will redeem you from the pit of death.
Your life will set me free the bondage of debt.
Let us then trade prices for prizes.
Let us trade costs for causes.
Let us turn our attention to intentions, affirming our unconditional worth.
Summary:
Sin is the rejection of our Cause
The wages / cost of sin is death
Therefore love is the antidote to death
We must stop betraying our lives and loves with the act of trading, instead freely giving and recieving of our talents, gifts, bodies, and resources for the sake of love.
If we live this way, we will both destroy the markets of bondage (ie the money we use which is forged in debt), and be the cause of life and love among us.
